9/30/2019 - Autumn at the Odeon 's schedule goes on
For the Autumn at the Odeon program organized by the Taormina Arte Sicilia Foundation could not miss the appointment with the Orchestra in the City of Taormina. The flagship of the city the orchestra was founded in the early 1900s by some Taorminese musicians and has evolved over the years to become a stable reality demanded worldwide. On Saturday, October 5th, the Orchestra in Plettro City of Taormina, conducted by Maestro Antonino Pellitteri, after the success of last year, will play the great classics of his repertoire. In an imaginary musical journey between classic and modern, traditional and contemporary, the viewer, next to the notes of the famous Intermezzo section of the 'Cavalleria rusticana' by Mascagni, will be able to listen to some of the most beautiful soundtracks written by composers like Ennio Morricone. The ancient and traditional Sicilian romances will alternate with new compositions by contemporary Sicilian authors. Among the pieces scheduled is a composition by the Taorminese musician Pancrazio Gulotta written in 1961 specifically for the City of Taormina Pick Orchestra. Also on the program are music by Sollima, Anvil and Pullara, contemporary Sicilian composers but also the famous Sicilian morning E vui durmiti still and famous songs of the Neapolitan tradition. For the first time together with the Orchestra the extraordinary voice of the Soprano Francesca Adamo Sollima. Sunday, October 6th is the turn of the duo Carla Aventaggiato and Maurizio Matarrese pair of pianists extremely equipped from the instrumental point of view supported by a particular sensitivity. Both are principal piano teachers at the N. Piccinni Conservatory in Bari and perform concert activities both as soloists and in piano duos that leads them to give concerts in different Italian and foreign cities. They focus in particular on long-forgotten music pages, thus significantly expanding the repertoire. The search for four-handed piano compositions allowed him to unexpectedly discover a copious literature, partly unknown. The Duo Aventaggiato-Matarrese will perform four-handed piano music by Debussy Ravel and Faurè in collaboration with the Almoetia Music Association.The week after the Autumn program at the Odeon will undergo a small change on Thursday 10 October the unique show Notes from Hell – Dante in jazz with Gigi Borruso, music by Diego Spitaleri and Fabio Lannino, Interview with Dante by Gery Palazzotto and on Friday, October 11, the tribute to Diane Schuur concert, Lucy Garcia on vocals, Fabrizio Giambanco on drums, Diego Spitaleri on piano and Fabio Lannino on bass and electric bass.
